Sardine Lake and the Snow Less Sierra Buttes

The Sierra Buttes in late September have no noticeable snow left to see. Soon, the top brown layer of rock will be covered with snow and it will look like a silver snow-covered jewel. It is odd to see the top brownish layer against the white granite bottom layer. This painting location required a half mile hike up to Upper Sardine Lake. Carrying all my art supplies was almost too much. It was worth it. The wind was like a wild banshee spirit but the clear brisk air gave us all a wonderful vista.
